Brief Description of Company or Organization: Professor Klinger's Hollywood II course surveys Hollywood cinema from the post-WWII era of the late 1940s to the start of the 21st century, examining the dynamic changes Hollywood, its films, and its audiences have undergone as a result of a combination of forces, from economic and technological developments to social and cultural transformations.  

Brief Description of Internship Responsiblities: As a teaching intern for Professor Klinger my responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting students through online office hours, running film screenings, and designing specific discussion and test questions.  I also plan on having to lecture on a particularly topic at least once during the semester.

Brief Description of Company/Organization: The Office of Community and School Partnerships provides outreach to prospective IU students from grades 4 to 12. It is through our precollege programs that we are able to encourage youth to attain a postsecondary education. The Office of the Associate Vice President for Academic Support and Retention, formerly known as the Office of the Associate Vice President Pre-Collegiate Initiatives and Academic Support, was established in 1998 to further enhance student success and to create a climate that promotes cultural, ethnic, and gender diversity. In addition to advocating for students, our staff coordinates a broad range of programs and services for students. Within the Office of the Associate Vice President for Academic Support and Retention, the associate vice president and the directors lead a team of professionals responsible for a wide variety of academic support services primarily for undergraduate student s. Brief Description of Responsiblities:
• Be knowledgeable of all policies and rules and assist in their enforcement.
• Monitors and ensures appropriate student behavior and adherence to the dress code.
• Recognizes and responds to opportunities for problem solving in the group of campers.
• Facilitates the supervision of campers while in the dining hall and while participating in daytime camp activities.
• Assigns tasks and scheduled breaks for Day Counselors and maintains work record of Day Counselors.
• Assesses the appropriateness of campers’ behavior and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
• Reports behavior and other problems immediately to the Camp Director.
• Accompanies campers to all daytime camp events.
• Works closely, cooperatively and amicably with all staff members.
• Encourages cooperation, teamwork, and participation from Day Camp Counselors.
• Notifies the Camp Director if he/she must be absent or late for duty for any reason.
• Observes campers daily for illness and/or injuries. Report all difficulties related to health immediately to a Camp Director.

• Stays in the dorm with campers and Night Counselors.

Brief Description of Company/Organization: Darkhound Productions is a production company at Indiana University. It is a student run organization, but has faculty support. They have recently began working on a feature film that will be created in Bloomington, "Petunia", which will be the project I will work on.

Brief Description of Responsibilities: responsible for all marketing and special events surrounding the film. I will conduct outreach to students and faculty on campus, as well as residents and business people in Bloomington. It is my responsible, as well as the team that will work under me, to generate buzz about the film in pre-production and post-production. Also, I will be responsible for planning all events for the cast and extras. This includes the movie premier and all events conducted for fundraising. I will also work on some public relations aspects like press releases, backgrounders, and fact sheets to give to the media.

PAST INTERNSHIP: BOOKS & BEYOND

Brief Description of Company or Organization: Books & Beyond is a collaborative project of the Newark Collegiate Academy (Newark, New Jersey), Indiana University’s Global Village Living-Learning Center (Bloomington, Indiana) and Kabwende Primary School (Ruhengeri province, Rwanda). Books & Beyond is an innovative, newly established project which promotes intercultural communication, literacy skills, advancement of education and service-learning by engaging students in authoring, illustrating, publishing and marketing children’s books and/or a collection of short stories. Working in small pairs, IU’s Global Village students mentor Newark Collegiate Academy high school students and together the partners develop short stories that are compiled into a book and sent to Rwanda. Copies of the book, along with teacher training guides and professional development workshops being developed for Kabwende Primary, will serve as models for the Rwandan students to create their own books. The Rwandan students’ stories will be sent back to the United States, compiled in an anthology with the existing stories from New Jersey and Indiana, and will be sold with the profit from the anthology returned to Kabwende in Rwanda. Along the way, students are acquiring skills in authoring, mentoring and collaborating, intercultural communication, grant writing, documenting and fund-raising.

Brief Description of Company or Organization: Middle Way House is a domestic abuse shelter for women. It also run Middle Way Food Network to provide jobs for women to make the transition for the shelter to an independent life. They also provide crisis help lines, legal assistance and child care.

Brief Description of Duties: I will create a Twitter account for the organization and run it in order to promote fundraising events and communicate with the IU student body and Bloomington community. I will also be helping with organizing events and any other communications duties they may need. My supervisor and I discussed building onto my duties as time goes on.

Brief Description of Company or Organization: The Global Institute for Leadership and Civic Development is an independent educational organization dedicated to training future leaders and global citizens. The organization operates study abroad programs in Prague, Rome, and Panama City. Its primary program, the Global Leadership Program, has been in operation since 2000. To date, the organization has trained over 700 students from 75+ different countries.

Brief Description of Duties: The International Student Outreach Intern cultivates relationships and contacts with international students and organizations at US colleges and universities. The ISOI is in charge of contacting International Student Organizations, providing information regarding the 2011 programs, answering emails from prospective students, and, if needed, delivering information sessions to students and/classes.

A secondary component of the internship is writing articles for an Alumni Newsletter. The intern will contact alumni and write articles featuring success stories and profile stories.
