Graduate Scholarship Program

The Jack Kent Cook Foundation Graduate Scholarship Program will award approximately 30 scholarships to college seniors and recent graduates planning to attend graduate school for the first time starting in fall 2009. Each award covers a portion of educational expenses, including tuition, living expenses, required fees, and books for the graduate degree chosen. The amount and duration of awards vary by student, based on the cost of attendance and length of the graduate program as well as other scholarships or grants received. The maximum award per student is $50,000 per year and the maximum length is six years.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
To be eligible for consideration, a student must be enrolled full-time at Indiana University with a senior status and have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, and be accepted into a full-time graduate degree program at an accredited university to begin studies in fall 2009 or a recent college graduate (who graduated within the past five years). The criteria the national panel will use for selection include:

* Academic achievement and intelligence
* Unmet financial need
* Will to succeed
* Leadership or public service
* Critical thinking ability
* Appreciation for/participation in the arts and humanities

Indiana University - Bloomington Nominee Selection Process Indiana University may nominate two candidates for the 2009 competition.
To be considered for selection as an IU Bloomington candidate, eligible students must complete and submit:

* 2009 Application Form hard copy (complete on-line application and
print out a copy from the Web site - send to Elaine Hehner, Hutton Honors College, 811 E. 7th St., Room 210E) - including applicant financial information, identification of recommenders
* Two Letters of Recommendation - each in a sealed envelope with
recommender's signature written across the seal
* Applicant Tax Forms
* Parent Financial Information Forms - parent financial information
forms are required regardless of age or independent status of the applicant
* Parent Tax Forms
* Resume/Curriculum Vita (limited to 2 pages)
* Official Transcript(s) - for all undergraduate coursework
* Copy of Acceptance Letter from Graduate School (if already
received, or note on status of application to graduate schools) - Financial Award Information from Graduate School (as soon as received)
* Optional Portfolio for Applicants in the Arts
