Brief Description of Company or Organization: Local volunteer-based organization that creates a weekly radio show for community radio, with the purpose of sharing stories and preserving storytelling traditions.  Also organizes live storytelling events in the community and keeps stories in a free archive online.

Brief Description of Internship Responsibilities: My responsibilities as the Outreach Coordinator intern would be to create connections with the community in order to make more storytelling opportunities. I would be in charge of researching partners we could collaborate with such as individuals or organizations, creating informational brochures to distribute around the city and in schools, planning live storytelling events, and promoting and generating interest for the project.

These responsibilities would include responding to and sending emails, making phone calls, using media, and writing. Additionally, time-permitting, I may take on the responsibilities of actually recording and editing material for the show.

RAD SUMMER is a booking agency, promotions company, and general moniker for projects undertaken by a small group of friends in Bloomington, IN. RAD SUMMER began as the name of Curtis Vodka and Flufftronix’s Summer 2007 tour, a six week jaunt across both North American coasts, the midwest, and Canada. Booked and managed almost exclusively by Flufftronix (aka Michael Lasday), he felt afterwards that such a project was too big for one person to organize alone. RAD SUMMER is the name of the effort to expand operations.

MEDIA:
-live event photography (1-2 nights a week) -promotional photography for artists as needed -flyer and website design -create and maintain an online photo gallery for events

PRESS:
-write press releases for events
-contact newspapers to list events
-compile a press kit
-order merchandise (CDs, stickers, t-shirts, etc.) -work merchandise booth at events -traditional handbill flyering as well as online promotion -seek out and obtain sponsorships -rewrite company bio -miscellaneous duties as needed, such as providing transportation for talent, making copies, etc.

Brief Description of Responsibilities: During my internship experience I will perform an array of tasks and activities within the interpersonal communication field; these will follow the mission and primary objectives of Social Butterfly. As a wedding planning organization I will first and for most help with the basic procedures that habitually take place in the preparation of an event. In addition I will assist in the desired expansion of Social Butterfly. In specific, I will assist in Social Butterfly’s conquest in transforming from a sole wedding planning organization to a more inclusive event planning organization. In order in doing so it will be my responsibility to help them develop and successfully complete events such as charity fund parties, cocktail parties, and random event parties that take place in- house. With the goal of expansion we will correspondingly publicize the firm threw TV commercials, media broadcasting via television and radio commercials, as well as newspaper and magazine advertisements.
