Brief Description of Internship Responsibilities:
  • As an Intern, I must maintain an active awareness of the merchandise available in the department and store and be able to serve customers as needed, communicate with buyers on the amount and types of product needed to successfully run the business.
  • Perform daily department maintenance tasks including stock work, re-merchandising, display, price markdowns, merchandise transfers and light cleaning.
  • Work as a team player to ensure each customer receives the best service possible.
  • Open new Nordstrom Fashion Rewards accounts as a means of building customer relationships. Consistently seek new fashion and product knowledge to act as an expert for the customer.
  • Set and achieve personal sales goals while supporting the goals of the team. Actively participate in and complete all components of the Internship Program, including time selling on the floor, sales and other customer events, classroom programs, etc.
  • Spend adequate time with the store manager to gain a broader understanding of our business.

Brief Description of Company or Organization:  Anthropologie is a clothing store that first opened in Wayne, Pennsylvania.  Since then it has expanded all across the country.  Anthropologie not only is a clothing store for women but it is a store that provides an experience where the customer is always right and endless inspiration in design. Anthropologie engages in the full retail cycle with it's headquarters now located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Brief Description of Internship Responsibilities: I expect to fully submerse myself into the everyday tasks and responsibilities as a visual merchandiser.  I plan on taking inspiration from their blog, called The Loop, and integrating design aspects from their words into the store.  I plan to creatively take their words and rhetoric and display that into a visual inspiration in the store.  I expect to not only utilize my creativity, but also my hard work.  I plan to use this experience to grasp and understand as much of the retail industry as possible.  From communicating with the customers visually and verbally I plan on integrating the Anthropologie lifestyle into an everyday work ethic.

Responsibilities of Internship: As an assistant buyer, intern is responsible for actually going out to various warehouses and picking out clothing items that they feel would sell well in the store.
