1. Healthcare Administration Networking Night

 

Tuesday, April 8; 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Virgil T. DeVault Alumni Center

 

Please join IU Alumni and professionals in healthcare administration for an evening of networking and fun. Guest speakers will participate in a panel discussion focusing on their career paths, organizational opportunities, and sharing advice for students entering the world-of-work. An introduction to networking will be followed by light refreshments and the opportunity to mingle with the guest speakers.

Does the idea of interviewing make you nervous? Does meeting strangers and talking about career paths sound exhausting to you? Introverts are those of us who gain energy from within ourselves, rather than through the external environment. Because we tend to be more quietly reflective, it can be daunting to engage in networking and interviewing, 2 activities that are essential to a successful job search. Join some Career Development Center staff for a workshop where we will address these issues and strategize for success!

5. U.S. Department of State - Information Session

 

Wednesday, April 16; 5:00 p.m.

The US Department of State's Diplomat in Residence for the Midwest, based in Chicago, Ambassador Ian Kelly will be holding an Information Session at the Career Development Center at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.  Ambassador Kelly is a career Foreign Service Officer with extensive experience gained over a 29-year career.  Ambassador Kelly will discuss his career, much of which was spent working on Russian and eastern European security issues.  He will also discuss various opportunities with the US Department of State, including internships, fellowships, and careers.

Healthcare Administration Networking Night


Just as a reminder, the Career Development Center and the IU Alumni Association are promoting our upcoming Healthcare Administration Networking Night taking place on Tuesday, April 8th, from 6:30-8:30pm at the DeVault Alumni Center located on 1000 E. 17th Street. 

 

This event will provide students the opportunity to learn the art of networking and interact with professionals within the field of healthcare administration.  Guest speakers will participate in a panel discussion, followed by an introduction to networking and a chance for students to mingle with the guest speakers. 

 

The panelists will include:

1. Parents Fund Internship Housing Grant

 

Deadline to apply: March 31, 2014

 

The Indiana University Parents Fund has donated $50,000 to assist with housing expenses for students participating in unpaid summer internships. Qualified students may receive up to $3,000 in grant funding for summer 2014 internships to help with rent and utilities expenses.

Community Connections Networking Event


The Political and Civic Engagement program (PACE)invites interested students to

 

Community Connections
Wednesday, April 2, 4:15-5:45 p.m.

This event offers a valuable opportunity for students to network with political and civic leaders from different fields who will answer questions about their work and career paths. Come for professional development and to explore new opportunities.
Appetizers will be provided.

The networking begins at 4:15 with an informal reception. The roundtable set-up, one guest per table, will accommodate small groups for ten-minute discussions before moving on to the next table, with a time period at the end for revisiting conversations with certain guests or for informal chatting.

Students and faculty interested in international development or making a difference around the world are urged to attend an upcoming event on Tuesday, March 25, in State Room West at the Indiana Memorial Union, featuring Peace Corps' top ranking recruitment director. Helen Lowman served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand from 1988-90, and she credits that experience with inspiring her career trajectory - including working for Peace Corps as a country director in China and Mongolia and as a regional director overseeing programs in Europe, the Mediterranean and Asia. Lowman will speak about how Peace Corps service helped shape her own life's work and offer advice on how to build a career that is rewarding both personally and professionally. The event also offers a unique opportunity to meet a top agency official who is helping to spearhead innovations to Peace Corps' recruitment model and who can describe the important work volunteers are doing around the world.
