Student Opportunity at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis

Position 1:

CFAX AND SPX FACILITATOR-TEMPORARY

This TEMPORARY position will end no later than January 4, 2009


Date: November, 2008
Reports to: Interpretation Manager, CFAX and Special Exhibits

OVERVIEW:

Works to establish The Children’s Museum as the premiere organization delivering world class interpretation and presentation to visitors and families by providing the highest quality immersive and interactive experiences for children and families. Researches and performs informal interactions, storytelling and programs in Jolly Days, Comic Book Heroes, Animation and operates the Yule Slide. Assists with gallery maintenance. Must have general knowledge of all museum spaces and in-depth knowledge of interpretation programs for designated galleries.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide excellent customer service. Know and enforce museum policies and procedures.
Interact positively with visitors and respond to questions and concerns. Remain visible and approachable in the CFAX and Special Exhibits gallery spaces.

2. Interact with visitors to help them understand gallery concepts and content in Jolly Days,
Robots and at the Yule Slide. Attend special exhibit gallery trainings. Play with children. Implement educational interpretive experiences.

3. Prepare gallery spaces daily for visitors. Maintain a safe and inviting atmosphere. Greet visitors. Provide daily care and cleaning of exhibit and activities.

4. Present programs and interact directly with visitors between 6-7 hours per day.
