Explore Your World: The American Experience
6:30-7:30p.m., Foster-Harper Formal Lounge*
"E pluribus unum" or "Out of many one" is the motto found on the Seal of the United States, but what does it mean? The United States is a complicated place made up of many peoples with diverse ethnic, religious, racial and cultural backgrounds. Who are our neighbors? How do their experiences and perspectives differ? Is there a common American experience? IU Bloomington offers a number of academic programs that explore these questions and the rich diversity that is America. Join us for this special event and find out what these programs have to offer you!
Enjoy free food, music and informed discussion with faculty members from African American & African Diaspora Studies, Asian American Studies, Jewish Studies and Latino Studies. Spend an hour and learn about academic options that can enhance your understanding of contemporary and historical issues in art, literature, popular culture, education, health care, social services, government, and business in the United States.
The Explore Your World Series is presented by University Division in cooperation with Foster International, RPS Academic Initiatives & Services, and the participating academic programs. All events in the Explore Your World Series are FREE and open to all IU Bloomington Undergraduates.
*Foster-Harper is located on the traffic circle off Fee Lane, just south of the IU baseball stadium. The formal lounge will be on your left as you enter Foster-Harper.
