National Survey of Student Engagement

We are making strenuous efforts this year to improve the return we get on the National Survey of Student Engagement. Already, in this first round, we have increased the number of completed surveys by 20% compared to last year. Last year we managed only a 23% return. This year, we are aiming for something closer to 40%.

This year all first-year and senior students have an opportunity to make their voice heard. What this means to you and your program is the opportunity to analyze the data within your school, and possibly within the department and program, too. This will only be possible and meaningful if we get significant numbers of students to complete the survey.

In collaboration with the Dean of Students, we are providing incentives to students to complete the survey, which takes just 10 minutes. The incentives are:

One fountain drink at IMU valued at $1.69
AND

A Chance to Win One of the Following Prizes:
Apple IPOD Touch (5)
SRSC locker & towel rental for either Summer ’10 or Fall ’10 (50)
Lunch for four at the Tudor Room (2)
Cycle fit session (25)

We’d be very grateful if you could ask all faculty to take a minute to encourage students to complete the survey at WWW.NSSESURVEY.ORG or to draw their attention to the emails that have already and will continue be sent to them as reminders.
