Society of Professional Journalists
IU's chapter of SPJ is recruiting new members! The organization focuses on supporting first amendment rights and journalism ethics. But the group is not just for journalism majors! There are a variety of events throughout the year that aren't necessarily journalism focused. The First Amendment Free Food Festival is tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 14) from noon to 3 p.m. in Dunn Meadow. If you sign away your first amendment rights, you can get free food! It's that easy! The group also wants to produce a homeless newspaper this spring, organizes Dining for Dave every October to support a scholarship fund and attends regional and national conferences. If interested in joining, the group meets the first Monday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Ernie Pyle Lounge in the journalism school. Next meeting is 6 p.m. Oct. 4. Or contact president MJ Slaby, mslaby@umail.iu.edu or vice president Lindsey Erdody, lerdody@gmail.com.
