Meet Jewish Studies alumni at kosher café – 5:30-6:45 p.m.
Workshop with Jewish Studies alumni – 7:00-9:00 p.m. 2nd floor

Three outstanding IU Jewish Studies alumni – Rabbi Laurie Matzkin, Rabbi Philip Ohriner, and Emily Walsh – will be available to talk with students about careers over dinner from (5:30 p.m.-6:45 p.m.) at Hillel’s kosher café.

From 7:00-9:00 p.m. a workshop will be held with brief presentations by each alum, followed by an opportunity for each student to talk about their career goals and ask questions of the three alumni.

Rabbi Laurie Matzkin
May 2011 IU graduate in flute performance with outside field in Jewish Studies
Rabbi Matzkin is the Assistant Rabbi/Director of Life Long Learning at Congregation Kol Emeth in Palo Alto, California. She received her ordination and a master’s degree in Jewish education from American Jewish University and was a senior JCSC fellow for the Multi-Campus Hillel of Greater Philadelphia.

Rabbi Philip Ohriner
May 2002 IU graduate in vocal performance with outside field in Jewish Studies
Rabbi Philip Ohriner is an Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Beth David in Saratoga, California. He received his ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and also attended the Jewish Theological Seminary cantorial school.

Emily Walsh
May 2004 IU Jewish Studies certificate
Ms. Walsh is the Assistant Director of Education at B’nai Jeshurun Synagogue in New York City. She was a JCSC Hillel Fellow at Washington University from 2004-05, was a
Wexner Fellow, and received a Master’s degree in Jewish education from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
