Sport Communication Classes Open to All (including freshmen and non-majors) for Spring 2011

HPER-P 445, Special Topics in Kinesiology

P445 Sport & Electronic Media (Section 30586, 11:15-12:30 Monday/Wednesday, 3 credit hours) - This course deals with the utilization, practice, and theory of sport communication on the Internet, with a broad focus on a variety of topics. This class also aims to give students experience in the realm of content creation, through working with the IUSportCom web site.

P445 Sport Blogging and Social Media (Section 30587, 1:00-2:15 TR, 3 credit hours) - This class specifically focuses on the usage of blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and other social mediums in the sport media environment.

P445 Writing Sportscasts (Section 17225, 8:00-9:15AM TR, 3 credit hours) - This class focuses on the utilization of proper techniques for creating sport-focused on-camera and on-air (audio and video) content.

P445 Sport Video Techniques (Section 19012, SECOND EIGHT WEEKS ONLY, 5:30-7:00 M, ONE CREDIT HOUR, Course fee) - This course is also known as "Camera Presence", and its purpose is to give interested students experience in front of the camera in a sport-specific setting. You will learn proper techniques in terms of speaking on camera, reading off a TelePrompTer, writing scripts, and having on-camera conversations. This class is only one credit hour, so you should be able to fit it into your schedule. It only meets during the second eight weeks of the semester. You will leave this class with at least 10 minutes of digitally recorded footage of yourself on camera.
