The Scholars in Global Citizenship Program (SGCP) prepares groups of high-achieving IU undergraduates to discover and learn from countries that are in the midst of major economic and political changes. Our country of interest in 2011 is Vietnam.
Vietnam is a rapidly developing country with a rich future. However, it is pushing up against environmental constraints, including its ability to manage fast-growing urban populations and to make sound use of its scarce natural resources. This course considers the challenges that Vietnam faces to protect its environment in an era of globalization and material prosperity. The course meets in and around Hanoi, Vietnam.
We seek high-achieving undergraduates from all units at IU who are prepared for an unforgettable experience in a part of the world that comparatively few Americans visit — yet where America has an indelible history.
