Invites You to Attend a Workshop
“Rethinking Your Major”
Wednesday, February 9th 4:30 to 6:00PM, Chemistry 122

This workshop is for you, if you

• Have lost interest in your current major
• Are pursuing a major solely to please your parents, impress your friends, or pay future bills
• Want help identifying alternatives in light of your academic strengths and weaknesses
• Have discovered a new intellectual passion and want to follow your bliss

Some of the issues addressed

• When to consider changing majors, how to identify viable alternatives, how to navigate the administrative steps, and how to evaluate some non-academic concerns such as time to degree and tuition costs
• When not to change majors but rather to rethink your job search and\or options for graduate study or professional training
• How to identify possible careers and job prospects of another major
• Support services and tools available as you investigate your options
• Degree completion in programs outside the College, including options that allow for distance learning

Who you will meet

Faculty members, Academic Advisors, and representatives from the College Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, Arts and Sciences Career Services, the Health Professions and Prelaw Center, and the School of Continuing Studies will make short presentations and answer questions to help you weigh your options and map out a workable plan for degree completion. Students who identify an alternative major will receive an Academic Advisement Report and contact information for an Academic Advisor.
