about the publicist position
The publicist is responsible for researching media targets to augment our existing press lists; understanding and communicating the main story angles of our clients, presenting those angles in compelling ways to the press via telephone, voicemail, and email; recording notes of conversations in a contact management database; and, communicating with clients regularly about each project's success, challenges, and strategies. The ideal person likes to talk, thinks before talking, is energized by a fast pace, is proficient with computers (email, Internet, record keeping), and is motivated by our mission to connect people across cultures through music. The publicist meets weekly with our operations manager and has the support of our office manager and interns. This is a great position for someone who has settled in Bloomington for the long haul and wants to work in the music and/or global culture field(s) and likes a workplace that is fun but with high work standards. The position is available immediately, though we will work with the right candidate to schedule a mutually acceptable start date.
