This internship provides direct assistance to the operations of the Bloomington Storytelling Project, a volunteer-powered award-winning partnership with community radio WFHB. The mission of this project is to preserve the tradition of oral history and build community by providing a platform for local people to share their true stories. We accomplish that mission by hosting regular live storytelling events, providing opportunities for anyone to record stories in-studio or through field recordings, broadcasting a weekly story showcase, and compiling a publicly-accessible free online story archive. Apply directly to project producer Laura Grover via email at storytelling@wfhb.org. Interns may fill some/all of the following roles depending on their skillset and the project's current needs:
Recording Engineer - facilitates the actual recording of stories from three sources: in-studio recordings, field recordings, and tapings of live BSP events. Set up mikes, run the mixing board, monitor recordings. Upload raw audio files to server.
Segment Producer – access raw files created by recording engineer, edit them, upload edited files to server, give feedback to recording engineers and team leaders.
Outreach Coordinator – recruit/book storytellers, seek marketing/promotions/grant opportunities, recruit volunteers, plan social events.
