Course descriptions:

* GLLC-G220 (33090) The History of Hell in the West (3 cr.) (GenEd S&H; CASE S&H ) (2nd 8-weeks) (TR, 11:15-12:30 pm, FQ012A) Andrew Koke

This class will examine the familiar concept of "Hell," noting particularly where the idea has come from, how it has been modified over time, how it has been popularized, and finally how it is used today. Students will be asked to analyze current media presentations of Hell, identifying the historical and cultural contributions that permeate contemporary representations. In so doing, the course seeks to suggest that the current notion of Hell is simply the latest in a long series and indicates a great deal about western culture.

* GLLC-G291 (32958) Study Abroad: Before You Go (1 cr.) (2nd 8 weeks) (MW, 9:30-10:45 am, FQ 012A) Julie Madewell This course prepares students for the rewarding educational experience of studying abroad. Taught from an interdisciplinary perspective, the course will stimulate students both to think about and to openly discuss their primary goals/concerns with overseas study. NOTE: Consent of Office of the Overseas Study required.
