EAST ASIA CAREER NIGHT

Please join IU students, faculty, and career professionals with interests in East Asia for an evening of discussion and networking. Guest speakers will participate in a panel discussion focusing on their career paths, opportunities within their organization, and advice for students who wish to work in the region. Representatives from the IU Chinese Flagship Program will also be present. Light refreshments and the opportunity to network with the panelists will follow.

CAREERS WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Interested in a career with the Federal Government? Join representatives from the US Department of Energy and the Partnership for Public Service, to learn about strategies for acquiring government jobs. Gina Erickson, Senior Analyst with the US Department of Energy will share the story of how she came to work for the government and offer advice to students looking to pursue a similar career path.

Gina Erickson has been with the U.S. Department of Energy for ten years. She currently serves as a senior analyst on oil markets and Middle East energy policy, where she provides analysis on bilateral and multilateral energy, oil market and cross-cutting issues that affect the Middle East and North Africa. Previously Gina served as State Program Director with a non-profit agency focused on domestic energy tax policy. She also worked as Program Manager contracted by the Directorate of Central Intelligence's Environmental Center to study national security issues related to global warming. Gina's teaching experience includes classes in computer science, international relations and political science at a community college in Washington, D.C. She also served four years as an Arabic translator in the U.S. Army. Gina has a Masters of Public Policy from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs in Minnesota. She is fluent in French, Spanish, Arabic, and Swedish.

OFFICE HOURS WITH THE INDIANA GENERAL ASSEMBLY INTERNSHIP DIRECTORS

The Indiana General Assembly Intern Directors will hold open office hours at the Career Development Center to answer questions about paid spring semester internships with the Indiana Senate, House of Representatives, and the IU Office of State Relations. Students are also encouraged to attend the information session from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Career Development Center.

INDIANA GENERAL ASSEMBLY INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS INFORMATION SESSION

The Indiana General Assembly Intern Directors will present a recruiting and information session for paid spring semester internships with the Indiana Senate, House of Representatives, and the IU Office of State Relations. Internships are open to college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent college graduates.

These internships offer excellent opportunities to learn firsthand about the legislative process and gain valuable experience in a high-profile, fast-paced, professional work environment. From early January through mid-March of 2012, our interns will work closely with legislators, state officials, and others directly responsible for developing state governmental policies through the legislative process. BROADCAST MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT NETWORKING NIGHT

Networking Nights is a collaborative event hosted by the IU Career Development Center and the IU Student Alumni Association. It is a night created to provide students the opportunity to learn the art of networking through interaction with professionals in their field of interest.

Please join IU Alumni and career professionals in diverse careers within the Broadcast Media & Entertainment industries for an evening of networking. Guest speakers will participate in a panel discussion focusing on their career paths, organizational opportunities, and sharing advice for students entering the world-of-work. The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) is Co-Sponsored by the Office of Disability Employment Policy, U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Applicants for the program must:

* Have a disability AND
* Be a U.S. citizen AND
* Be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education on a substantially full-time basis (unless the severity of the disability precludes the student from taking a substantially full-time load) to seek a degree OR
