Brief Description of Company/Organization: The Odyssey is a weekly newspaper targeting the Greek community on campus. The Odyssey is currently on 45 campuses and one example is University of Florida - which has over 64 Writers - one from each Greek chapter - as well as a strong support base on campus from Greek life offices!
Brief Description of Responsibilities:
•Assisting with content direction of the paper alongside the Publisher and Managing Editor
•Writing an article each week and submitting by deadline
•Supplying article and weekly feature ideas
•Composing a monthly calendar of the events on campus - Greek related and otherwise
•Assisting with the cover photo each week - or finding a photographer
•Writer Recruitment- assisting in gaining more and new writers (forwarding emails, talking to friends, potential chapter visits, and updating Facebook)
•Meeting with Influential groups on campus to spread the word about The Odyssey ex. IFC, PHA, etc.
•Ideas and Statistics for Infographics Spread- general stats or campus specific information that you would like to see included in The Odyssey
Brief Description of Internship Benefits
This position will build your interpersonal, organization, and communication skills. It will also give you experience in creative problem solving and deadlines and a general boost toy our resume. Although this will not take up much time each week, it is important that our Contributing Editor is committed as they will be a huge asset to The Odyssey, the Publisher, and the Managing Editor.
