PHD ASSISTANTSHIP AT LSU

EDA ASSISTANTSHIP IN ENGLISH WITH EMPHASIS IN
FILM AND MEDIA ARTS
LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY

THE PROGRAM IN FILM AND MEDIA ARTS, in collaboration with the Department of English at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA is  offering a 4-year Economic Development research assistantship for doctoral study beginning in September 2012.

The assistantship is open to a student with a BA, MA, or MFA who wishes to pursue a PhD in English with an emphasis in Film and Media Arts.

The award provides $25,000/yr (US) for 4 years (with satisfactory progress toward PhD).  It also includes a full tuition waiver and a health care stipend.

We are seeking a PhD student who will develop and participate in film and video research and production projects in Film and Media Arts and English that integrate academic theory and media practice.  Interest in Nonfiction Prose and Film is a plus.  Production and post-production skills (e.g. Final Cut) are useful but not necessary.

Separate application materials are listed on the English Dept. web site at: http://uiswcmsweb.prod.lsu.edu/ArtSci/english/GraduateProgram/.  In addition to the writing sample required by English, short videos or other projects on DVD are welcome but not necessary.

PLEASE NOTE:  The deadline for application for this special award is MARCH 15.  Preference given to out-of-state students or to Louisiana residents returning to the state, but all applications given serious consideration.
