Colege of Arts and Sciences Scholarships, Grants, and Fellowships


This newsletter contains information about the following opportunities:

1)      Indiana University Alumni Association Scholars


The Indiana University Alumni Association will award thirty-three $1,000 scholarships in 2013 to full-time undergraduate students who are the sons and daughters of IU Alumni Association members. Two scholarships will be designated for qualifying students from each of IU's eight campuses. The remainder will be awarded to students on an at-large basis. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement as determined by the Office of Student Enrollment Services. Financial need will be determined from the information provided by the student and his or her parent(s) on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You may complete the FAFSA online or paper applications may be obtained the Office of Student Financial Assistance. Preference will be given to students who have not received a scholarship in prior years.

2)      Kenneth R. R. Gros Louis Scholarship


This scholarship is for IUB juniors with a 3.7 GPA who will be in their senior year at IUB during the 2013-2014 academic year. Completed applications and 3 letters of reference should be submitted to the

Office of the Dean of Students (Indiana Memorial Union, M-088) by 5:00 p.m. on April 25, 2013.  Applications and complete instructions are available at:

3)      Parents Fund Internship Housing Grants


The Indiana University Parents Fund has donated $50,000 to assist with housing expenses for students participating in non-paid, summer internships in U.S. cities. Please help us market this opportunity to students who might qualify and benefit from this assistance. Qualified students may receive up to $3,000 in grants. This program is for Summer 2013 only.

 

To be eligible to apply, you must:

·         Have a GPA of 3.0 or above

·         Be a rising senior or rising junior, with preference given to upper-class students

·         Be a United States citizen or permanent resident

·         Demonstrate proof of financial need and qualify for a Pell Grant; FAFSA must be on file

·         Participate in a non-paid internship in the United States, with preference given to students participating in internships that are over 100 miles or more from their permanent or Bloomington address

·         Complete a career plan that describes how the internship will assist in their career goals

·         Complete a budget for the costs of participating in the internship, especially housing costs

·         Complete the internship and all requirements of the internship including the signing of the internship agreement. If the internship requirements are not met, students will need to repay the grant

 

The internship must:

·         Be both non-paid and meet the academic internship guidelines (See "Q398 Requirements") established by the Career Development Center

·         Be at least 32 hours per week, and last at least 9 weeks

4)      The Clarence J. Jupiter Fellowship Program


The Clarence J. Jupiter Fellowship program seeks to diversify and increase the number of professionals in educational advancement. As the premier association for educational advancement professionals, CASE is committed to the inclusion of people from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the profession. This program is designed to attract students (undergraduate and graduate) student who may not have previously considered a career in institutional advancement.

 

These fellowships provide up to eight fellows with a hands-on learning experience at CASE ASAP member educational institutions throughout North America. Fellows receive on-the-job training and gain valuable skills in the three professional areas of advancement—alumni relations, communications & marketing, and philanthropy. Application Deadline: Friday, April 19, 2013

 

Clarence J. Jupiter Fellows receive:

·         An introduction to a community of advancement professionals who can serve as helpful resources and mentors in one’s career

·         A paid internship (100 hours - $1,000)

·         Sponsorship to a CASE District conference ($1,000)

·         Complimentary registration and travel to attend the CASE ASAP Network Convention (August 8-10, 2013  in New Orleans, Louisiana)

·         In-depth trainings and focus on one of the three key areas of institutional advancement—alumni relations, communications and marketing, and development/fundraising

·         Participation in CASE Fellow webinar training

5)      THE CASE ASAP Career Fellowship Program


 

The CASE ASAP Career Fellowship program seeks to provide a pipeline for students interested in exploring a field in educational advancement. As the premier association for educational advancement professionals, CASE is committed to opening doors for students to explore advancement careers. This fellowship is designed for students (undergraduate and graduate) interested in exploring an advancement career. The CASE ASAP Career Fellowship provides up to four selected fellows with a hand-on learning experience at CASE ASAP member education institutions throughout North America. Fellows receive on-the-job training and gain valuable skills in the three professional areas of advancement—alumni relations, communications & marketing, and philanthropy. Application Deadline: Friday, April 19, 2013

 

CASE ASAP Career Fellows receive:
