U. S. Embassy Riyadh
VSFS offers U.S. citizen college students the opportunity to apply
to virtually intern with the U.S. Department of State, USAID, and other foreign
affairs and federal agencies. VSFS
projects may be research based, contributing to reports on issues such as human
rights, economics or the environment. They may also be more technology
oriented, such as working on web pages, or helping produce electronic journals.
Some projects are centered around youth and student engagement. Selected
eInterns are expected to work virtually for about ten hours per week on their
projects.
Projects are solicited from offices and posts
in the spring and students apply to their top three projects in July. If
selected, students begin the eInternship in September and continue through the
end of April. Some students have received course credit for their
work. eInternships are unpaid and do not require a security
clearance. A list of the current year projects is here.
