FREE CAPS student workshops -Spr'14 schedule

I am excited to inform you that Counseling and Psychological Services is offering several FREE Workshops that are available to all students.

First, we have expanded our Mindfulness Meditation Practice Sessions, so that we are offering them four times a week.  Mindfulness is an excellent skill for stress reduction, pain management, and reduction of negative emotional states.  Sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 am.  And Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 pm.

Second, we are offering a workshop addressing academic success.  It is titled ACE:  Academic Change and Exploration.  This workshop will help participants explore their attitude about academics and identify way to overcome obstacles to personal academic success.  This could be an excellent recommendation for anybody who seeks to improve their academic performance and especially those on academic probation.  It meets on Mondays from 11am-noon.

Third, we are offering Self-Care for Peak Performance.  This workshop will help participants explore stress management techniques to maintain their stress at a level that will enhance their performance.  This workshop will take place on Wednesdays from 1-2pm, 1/29-2/26 and 3/5-4/9.

Last,  we are offering a Body-Esteem Boot Camp on Thursdays from 3-4:30 pm. 2/27-4/10.  Here is what the facilitator would like you to know about it.  “CAPS will be offering a FREE 6-week workshop series to increase positive body image: BODY ESTEEM BOOT CAMP (BEBC)! This series was originally created by Dr. Katie Cougevan at UC Davis Counseling and Psychological Services.  I facilitated this series at UC Davis, and with her permission I offered this series at California State University, Northridge.  It was a great success on both campuses.  Thus, I am excited to share it now with IU students!

All of the workshops are drop-in and participants do not need to attend all of the workshops within a series.

Please contact me if you have questions about any of these workshops.
