1. IMPORTANT Drop-In Advising Update
We will not have morning career advising hours during the
Spring 2014 semester. However, there will still be drop-in career advising
Monday-Friday from 12:30-4pm. No
appointment needed! If you cannot attend
those drop-in hours, please contact our office at (812) 855-5234 or iucareer@indiana.edu to schedule an
appointment.

2. Winter Career and Internship Fair
Wednesday, January 29, 2014; 3:00-4:00 p.m., 4:00-7:00
p.m.
Alumni Hall, Indiana Memorial Union
This fair gives IU students from a variety of liberal
arts majors the opportunity to connect with organizations recruiting
entry-level positions and/or internships. All majors are welcome to attend.
The first hour of the fair (from 3-4 p.m.) is open to the
students from diversity groups and scholarship programs.
The fair will be open to the general student population
from 4-7 p.m. To see a list of attending employers, log into your myJobs
account - accessible from www.ascs.indiana.edu.
Once in myJobs, click on "career events" and select "Winter
Career and Internship Fair." You will be able to see a list of employers
currently signed up to attend the fair.

3. Sales Networking Night
Wednesday, January 29, 2014; 7:30-9:00 p.m.
Maple Room, Indiana Memorial Union
Please join IU Alumni and professionals in the sales
industry for an evening of networking and fun. Guest speakers will participate
in a panel discussion focusing on their career paths, organizational
opportunities, and sharing advice for students entering the world-of-work. An
introduction to networking will be followed by light refreshments and the
opportunity to mingle with the guest speakers. Panelists include
representatives from:
- AT&T
- Dish
- Enterprise
- Total Quality Logistics
- Yelp
Networking Nights is a collaborative event hosted by the
IU Career Development Center and the IU Alumni Association. Its purpose is to
provide students the opportunity to learn the art of networking through
interaction with professionals in their field of interest.
Business casual attire (dress shirt, dress pants, or
skirt) is appropriate for this event. Don't miss this great networking
opportunity!

7. IU Alumni Association Presents "Cha Ching"
Financial Literacy Event
Tuesday, January 28; 7:00 p.m.
DeVault Alumni Center
Crunching numbers can be overwhelming, especially when
you're trying to create a budget for yourself. In this "Cha Ching"
session, learn from two financial experts (who both hold advanced degrees from
IU's Kelley School) on how to make the most of your income to come. Part of the
IU Alumni Association's Life After IU series, the event happens Tuesday, Jan.
28, 7 p.m., at the DeVault Alumni Center, 1000 E. 17th St. (across the street
from Assembly Hall). Free food, easy parking.

8. Job Search Student Group
Wednesday, February 5th to Wednesday, March 5th;
5:30-7:00 p.m.
Are you a College of Arts & Sciences senior
graduating in May or August? Have you started your job search? Would you like
the opportunity to share your experiences with your peers?
If you are starting your job search or just beginning the
process and would like some additional guidance and support during the process,
join us for unique opportunity to talk with your peers about the mistakes,
pitfalls, fears, and successes of the job search. Sometimes talking with your
friends is the best way to learn what works and what not to do. This group will
cover the important pieces of the job search including resumes, cover letters,
interviewing, and transition, but is also an opportunity to talk with people
who are in the same position as you. You will get ideas and advice from your
peers as well as support from the Arts & Sciences Career Services and a
master's student in counseling.
