Description
Students and faculty interested in international development or
making a difference around the world are urged to attend an upcoming event on Tuesday,
March 25, in State Room West at the Indiana Memorial Union, featuring
Peace Corps top ranking recruitment director. Helen Lowman served as a Peace
Corps Volunteer in Thailand from 1988-90, and she credits that experience with
inspiring her career trajectory including working for Peace Corps as a country
director in China and Mongolia and as a regional director overseeing programs
in Europe, the Mediterranean and Asia. Lowman will speak about how Peace Corps
service helped shape her own lifes work and offer advice on how to build a
career that is rewarding both personally and professionally. The event also
offers a unique opportunity to meet a top agency official who is helping to
spearhead innovations to Peace Corps recruitment model and who can describe the
important work volunteers are doing around the world.

Calling all past, present and future Peace Corps Volunteers (plus
family and friends, too)! Join us as we gather to
share stories, learn about Volunteer experiences, and celebrate those preparing
to depart for Peace Corps assignments overseas.
Peace
Corps Associate Director Helen Lowman and a panel of Returned Peace Corps
Volunteers will share their experiences making a difference as volunteers
around the world, and explain how Peace Corps continues to play a role in their
lives, both personally and professionally. The panel will be followed by
recognition of those Hoosiers who have and will serve in Peace Corps and an
open gathering. This event is free and open to the public.
