"The In/Visibility of America's 21st Century Wars" Lecture Series is proud to present its first invited lecture this semester.
Internationally acclaimed photographer Suzanne Opton will be giving a lecture discussing her portraiture work with veterans. Opton's talk, titled "Soldier/ May Wars: The Difficulty of Home", will take place Monday October 10th at 7pm in the Fine Arts Auditorium (FA 015) on the Indiana University Campus. To view Suzanne Opton's work, please visit www.soldiersface.com or www.suzanneopton.com.
"The In/Visibility of America's 21st Century Wars" is a series of lectures concerning the paradox of a highly visualized contemporary American experience of war that is, on the one hand, ubiquitous and utterly present in public, popular culture; and on the other hand, invisible or absent, with no tangible sense that "America" is at war.
This series is part of Indiana University's Themester "Making War, Making Peace" and will continue bringing speakers throughout the year to address the paradox of "In/Visibility."
