Brief Description of Company/Organization: PALS is a nonprofit Equine Assisted Program providing therapeutic riding for children and adults with disabilities and at-risk youth. It provides therapeutic animal assisted activities such as therapeutic horseback riding, hippotherapy, animal care and pet encounter therapy to children and adults with physical, learning, cognitive or emotional disabilities.
Brief Description of Responsibilities: As an intern, I am taking a position as the event coordinator for the PALS Fun Show. It is an annual event that offers the opportunity for all PALS riders to participate in a day of activities, while family and friends witness the benefits of equine assisted activities. I write short press releases for the internet website, for the newspaper and other media outlets. I also am in charge of two sub committees for Volunteer Recruitment and Food & Concessions. I take minutes at the weekly full committee meetings and am in charge of contacting the group members.
