4. ArtWORKS: Success in the Performing Arts
Friday, April 12, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

ArtWORKS is an event series that takes an in-depth look
into creative careers. For the first part of the event, Randy White, Artistic
Director of Cardinal Stage Company, will present a short lecture on the
business interactions between performers and the creative arts industry.
Following the presentation, a panel of local performing
artists will share their experiences as actors, dancers, band members, and
vocalists.

5. College Alumni Spotlight Series: An Evening with Marie
Harf Former Media Spokesperson for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
Monday, April 15, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Career Development Center, 625 N. Jordan Ave.
In this interactive session, participants will have the
opportunity to learn from and be inspired by IU alum Marie Harf. Marie
graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with
concentrations in Russian and Eastern European Studies and Jewish Studies. She
has worked for the CIA, the Directorate of Intelligence and most recently as
the associate policy director for national security for President Obama's
re-election campaign. Marie will discuss her career path and provide insight
and advice about careers in politics and government.

7. Apply for the Parents Fund Internship Housing Grant
Due: Friday, April 19
The Indiana University Parents Fund has donated $50,000
to assist with housing expenses for students participating in non-paid, summer
internships in U.S. cities. Qualified students may receive up to $3,000 in
grants. This program is for Summer 2013 only.
To be eligible to apply, you must:
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or above
- Be a rising senior or rising junior, with preference
given to upper-class students
- Be a United States citizen or permanent resident
- Demonstrate proof of financial need and qualify for a
Pell Grant; FAFSA must be on file
- Participate in a non-paid internship in the United
States, with preference given to students participating in internships that are
over 100 miles or more from their permanent or Bloomington address
- Complete a career plan that describes how the
internship will assist in their career goals
- Complete a budget for the costs of participating in the
internship, especially housing costs
- Complete the internship and all requirements of the
internship including the signing of the internship agreement. If the internship
requirements are not met, students will need to repay the grant
The internship must:
- Be both non-paid and meet the academic internship
guidelines established by the Career Development Center (Read the guidelines
here: http://www.indiana.edu/~career/services/courses/q398_w499.php)
- Be at least 32 hours per week, and last at least 9
weeks
Applications will be accepted until Friday, April 19,
2013.

8. Hire Big Ten Plus Virtual Career Fair
Tuesday, April 9 - Thursday, April 11, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00
p.m.

12. Bloomington Technology Partnership Career and
Internship Fair

The Bloomington Technology Partnership (BTP) will host a
career and internship fair for Bloomington and Monroe County employers looking
to hire employees or interns in technology-related areas. The event is open to
the public and light snacks and beverages will be provided to attendees.

13. LEAD IU Community Service Leader Program
Friday, April 12, 5:00 p.m.
Are you a student who is dedicated to service and is
willing to put your passion into action? Student Life and Learning and the LEAD
IU program are hosting Community Service Leader positions during the 2013-2014
academic year. Members will complete 210 hours of direct community service in
Bloomington, outreach to the IU community, and leadership training with the
support of SLL staff, as well as receive a stipend. Please complete an
application and email it to iusll@indiana.edu.
The Priority Application Deadline is Friday, April 12th at 5:00 p.m.
Applications submitted after the Priority Deadline will be accepted on a
rolling basis.

14. Student Life and Learning Shaffer Intern
Sunday, April 14, Midnight
Shaffer Interns support projects, events, and initiatives
in Student Life and Learning. Working closely with professional staff, Shaffer
Interns focus on many areas, including but not limited to: Greek life,
Leadership Programming, Marketing and Student Organizations.
The Shaffer Intern program is designed as a cohort
experience. Interns have the opportunity
to work with other student interns and support one another throughout the year.
Selected individuals will have the opportunity to exercise their own creativity
and autonomy in their internship project area. This is a wonderful opportunity
to work with students and professional staff in a dynamic office on campus, and
gain great leadership skills!
Shaffer Interns earn $500 a semester for 5 hours of work
each week.
Applications are due Sunday, April 14th at midnight. To
